Dainty and delicate, both the charm and the chain. This is the first piece of jewelry I have ever ordered online and I think I like it enough to keep it. However, I would caution you to research carefully the size and quality of whatever piece you're thinking of purchasing. The butterflies made it a fun item for me so I wasn't too concerned about perfection of the stones. Its nice that they do offer a bit of glimmer in the sunlight.
I was surprised, however, at the small size of the charm itself. (3/4 of an inch from the tip of the top butterfly to the bottom of the 3rd) I felt the picture a bit misleading.. guess I was expecting something more substantial. The butterflies actually can be moved very slightly from side to side. Although that doesn't affect the general shape pictured, I do find it pleasantly unique. Certainly adds to the delicate nature of the whole piece.
I'm not real happy with the clasp, may replace it someday but for now will keep as is.
