I bought four of them: one for me and one for each of my three bridesmaids. They are beautiful. The chain is very delicate, but a reviewer for this same necklace with the smaller pearl said she had the chain for five years and it hasn't broken after weekly use. I think a thicker chain would overwhelm the simplicity and elegance of the pearl.
I opted for this version instead of the 6-7mm version because they were the same price at the time I bought it. I would have preferred the smaller one for myself, but it still looks great. It's an accent by itself instead of having a string of pearls.
Before I bought it, I drew a 7.5mm circle on a post-it, cut it out, and stuck it where it would lie on my chest with the 18" chain (right below my collarbone). I looked in the mirror, and it seemed just right to me. It helped me understand just how big it was and if I might need a longer chain.
